Accommodation FAQs

Booking Accommodation

How can I apply for a place in LSE halls?
Once you receive your offer for LSE Summer School, you can book your accommodation online through your LSE for You account. You can access the booking engine via the ‘Accommodation’ tab. All available rooms for Summer School will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Can I book the same/different room for more than one session?
Each session is treated as a separate booking, so you can either book different rooms or the same room for each individual session.

Can I extend my stay in LSE halls beyond the Summer School session?
There are opportunities for extended stays. Please submit the desired duration of your stay in the booking process and the system will let you know whether there is availability. Please note that the availability for extended stays is limited.

I’ve already made my booking but I want to extend my stay, is that possible and how would I pay for the extra nights?
If there is availability, it may be possible to extend your stay. To extend your booking, please contact  residences.summerschool@lse.ac.uk to request information on available rooms. To make payments for extra nights, go to http://residences.lse.ac.uk/lsepayments and select the option “To make a single payment”

Which rooms are still available?
Any rooms displayed on the online booking engine are available. If a particular room type is not visible, it is fully booked. In this case you will need to select a different hall, room type or different dates. Rooms are booked on a first-come, first-served basis.

Can I share a room with someone?
Students may only share rooms with other students that they already know in advance of the programme; in this instance students should book a twin room. We do not pair students up with people they do not know, or allocate at random, in order to share rooms.

How do I book a twin or triple room with a friend/s?
If you want to book a shared (either a twin or a triple) with a friend, one person will have to make the booking and pay the fee for both of you. You will then need to arrange the split of the fees between yourselves. Please make sure to fill in the name of the second person on the booking form so we can ensure you are booked in the same room.

Can I stay in a twin or triple room if I don’t have a friend to stay with?
LSE Residential Services are not able to find room mates for students. Students can only stay in triple or twin rooms if they have already identified other students to share the room with.

Can I live with my parent/sibling/relative in a twin room if they’re not studying on the Summer School programme?
Unfortunately we only have limited room availability. Therefore we are unable to rent rooms to relatives as we need to ensure accommodation for our Summer School students. Relatives can book rooms separately using our private booking channel: www.lsevacations.co.uk

Can I have a guest stay with me in my hall?
Our halls operate a no guest policy. No overnight guests will be allowed.

Payment

Can I pay on arrival?
No, in order to enable us to confirm your booking and secure your room you will need to provide full payment when you book your accommodation.

How do I pay the fees?
The fees can be paid either by card payment or by wire transfer.

How do I pay by wire transfer?
If you choose to pay by wire transfer, you will be prompted to print out the LSE payment details and hand it to your branch to be transferred within 72 hours of the form being generated.

Why isn’t my status changing from reserved to booked?
There are only 3 statuses on LSE for You: reserved, checked in, and checked out. The status in the system will not change until you have checked in at your residence.

Can I call to cancel my room?
