Who are you?
I am currently working as a Senior Vocational Education and Training Officer in the Zambian Education Ministry. I am also pursuing a Master’s in Education in Information, Communication Technologies in Education with the University of Cape Town in South Africa.
What course did you study on the LSE-UCT July School?
At the LSE-UCT July School I studied the Informal Economy and Development course. I chose the course because my work involves policy development for entrepreneurs in the informal economy. The course covered the changing role of the informal economy in contemporary development process and policy. I enjoyed the course because the course lecturer Dr. Kate Meagher has a lot of knowledge and experience and gave practical examples to illustrate key learning points. The varied backgrounds of students in the class was suitable for learning.
What was your experience of Cape Town?
It was the coldest temperature wise I have ever experienced. However, that did not keep me from enjoying the city’s attractions. I visited Camps Bay beach with fellow students for the first time and it was a very enjoyable experience. I also took a walk along Sea Point and had fun doing that. UCT provided a suitable learning environment as the hostels were within walking distance to the lecture halls.
