Applications for the 2014 LSE-UCT July School in Cape Town, South Africa can be made online through this website.
Applicants should ensure that they have all the required information available, including the documents to be uploaded before starting the application form.
Please note that it is not possible to save an uncompleted application.
Paying the Application Fee
Before making the application, applicants should ensure that they have paid the application fee through the LSE eShop, and received their confirmed order number.
Completing the Application Form
The application form has two sections, each with a number of pages.
Section One (four pages)
Page One requests personal details, including
Your personal details and contact details, including full permanent address.
Details of any previous study with LSE and/or the University of Cape Town.
The LSE-UCT July School course you wish to apply for.
Please note: Due to the intensive nature of the LSE-UCT July School, students can only take one course during the 2014 programme.
Details of your current or most recent study, including completion date and result or expected result.
Confirmation of how you meet the English Language requirements for the LSE-UCT July School.
Details of an academic referee, including e-mail address, who can be contacted if required. It is not necessary to include a reference with your application.
Details of your current or most recent employment, if you are not currently a full-time student.
The confirmation code showing that your Application Fee has been paid.
Section Two (four pages)
In Section Two, you will be asked to upload the documents to support your application. Please note that the maximum size for each document is 1MB.
Page 1 - Academic Background
A transcript or other document confirming your current student status, or your final result if you have completed your studies. This document should show the individual courses/ modules you have taken to date, and your marks/ grades. Translation is notrequired. There is an option to include a second document if required.

Page 2 - English Language
Evidence of how you meet the English Language requirements for the LSE-UCT July School.
If you are of a nationality where English is the first language, you do not need to provide documentation.
If you have studied at university level in English (not learning English language), please provide a transcript showing this. (This is not required if it is included in the documentation you have provided on Page One.)
If you have studied in English at school (eg, GCSE, iGCSE, O-Level, A-Level, International Baccalaureate) please provide confirmation of this.
If you have taken an approved English Language test and met the requirements, please provide a copy of your formal results document.
If your situation does not fit one of these categories, but you are a fluent and confident user of English, please provide a clear statement (in English) detailing this, and providing evidence and examples.

Page 3 - Photograph
A clear, passport-style portrait photograph clearly showing your face. If you are unsure what is appropriate for a photograph, please see the UK government advice. This picture will not be considered during the application process, but will be used for ID cards etc for the programme if your application is successful.
Page 4 - Passport scan
A scan or photograph of your passport or pages clearly showing your nationality and personal details must be uploaded.
