Rishi Nagar

Who are you?
My name is Rishi Nagar, I am a Physics graduate from King’s College London and I am currently a Graduate Consultant specialising in Business Analytics.

What did you study on the LSE-PKU Study School?
Having gained a range of experience within the consulting industry, I was looking to expand my theoretical knowledge within global finance through a rigorous programme; whilst focusing on the BRICS economies and gaining exposure to China. The ‘Corporate Finance in a Global World: Challenges and Opportunities’ course was the perfect choice.

Dr Moqi Xu structured the course exceptionally well. Both her outstanding industry knowledge and financial insight made for a highly educational experience. It was a pleasure to be among such an intellectual and internationally diverse peer group, all whom brought a unique input onto the programme.

My most enjoyable aspects of the programme were: critically analysing the international case studies - spanning from Venezuela to China – and undertaking the course assignment. I was able to apply financial methods in valuation, risk, financial law and capital structure to propose a strategy to improve the value of a South African firm.

I look forward to building upon what I have learnt and I expect to return to Asia for further academics and professional tenures in the near future.

How was your experience of Beijing?
Prior to the course I spent time in Ulan-Ude – Buryatia, Siberia - for my friend’s wedding where I enjoyed visiting Lake Baikal and eating Russian cuisine. Upon arriving in Beijing, I was able to meet friends who I had not seen for many years which was wonderful. I enjoyed exploring Peking University by bicycle and visited the Summer Palace, Wudaokou, food markets and stunning Weiming Lake.

The class visit to the Great Wall was truly breathtaking. I have made many great friends on the programme who I will undoubtedly keep in touch with. Beijing was an unforgettable experience.
