What if I already have a student visa?

LSE Students

If you have a student visa to study at LSE and you are going to start a new programme at LSE, you can register at LSE and then apply to obtain a new Tier 4 (General) Student visa for the rest of your programme before your visa expires.

Students with non-LSE Student Visas

*** Important Information! ***

Most students who have a Tier 4 visa to study at a different institution in the UK
cannot use it to study at LSE (this depends on when you applied for your current visa)

You will not be permitted to register or attend any classes at LSE until you have submitted an application to the Home Office to obtain a new Tier 4 visa for LSE. You will need to show the following documents at registration:

  • a copy of your previous visa
  • a copy of the photo page from your passport
  • evidence that you have submitted an application to the Home Office for an LSE Tier 4 (General) visa.

ISIS will be running workshops for prospective students who are already in the UK and need advice on applying for a Tier 4 visa in the UK.
