Erasmus + Staff Teaching Mobilities
In 2014 the Erasmus + programme was launched. There are changes which staff considering participating in an exchange should be aware of:
-
exchanges must contain a minimum of eight hours teaching - conference attendance can no longer be supported;
-
priority must be given to staff who haven't benefitted from an Erasmus exchange
-
travel grants have been reduced and may not cover the full cost of return travel to the host institution
-
the LSE requires that all exchanges are reciprocal
-
Subsistence grants are paid in line with the LSE expenses system. Once all receipts for costs are submitted to the Erasmus Coordinator, we will be able to pay your grant (travel and accommodation costs can be paid in-advance with evidence of payment).
The following LSE departments have bilateral exchange agreements in place for teaching staff:

-
You must be employed by the London School of Economics and Political Science.
-
You can only apply to go teach at a university that the School has a bilateral agreement with.
-
Your stay must be a minimum of 2 days and you must deliver at least 8 hours of teaching per week.
-
Your teaching experience must take place between 1 June of one year up to 31 July of the following year.
-
Your exchange must be recognised by LSE, for example in your PDR.
How to apply
-
If you are interested in participating in an Erasmus exchange and if you meet the criteria set out above, you will first need to discuss with the partner institution and your head of department what you would like to teach, when would be a mutually beneficial time to go, etc.
-
Complete our query form.
-
Once your application has been processed, you will receive written confirmation about your acceptance to the programme, your eligibility to receive an Erasmus grant, and how much that will amount to.
-
You will also be sent a Teaching Mobility Agreement, a Teaching Programme Form and a Staff Report Form which must be completed before you receive your grant, and you must provide original receipts of your expenditure. Money will be sent to you in the form of a cheque or by bank transfer; your confirmation email will provide you with further information.
If you have any queries about the eligibility criteria, the application procedure, or the Erasmus programme in general, please contact the Erasmus Coordinators:
