Information for LSE students

What exchanges are in place for LSE students?

The LSE currently operates very few Erasmus exchanges for students. Our exchanges are often part of a specific degree programme.

It is not possible for you to arrange your own exchange through an institution that we do not have a bilateral agreement with.  We regret that we are unable to arrange bilateral agreements on the request of individual students.

Undergraduate exchanges

Undergraduate students can apply to take part in the School-wide exchange with Sciences Po.  Details of how to apply can be found here.

Eligibility criteria

  • You must be on a course of study that leads to a recognised degree or diploma;
  • You are fully registered at LSE (the exchange cannot take place after your registration has ended);
  • You are not in your first year of higher education;
  • You have approval from your department to undertake the exchange;
  • The exchange must be a minimum of three months or one academic term;
  • The exchange cannot be for more than one academic year.

How to apply

  • Identify a host institution from the list above and obtain approval from your department;
  • Complete the Outgoing Erasmus student form and bring it to an Erasmus drop-in.
  • If your exchange is approved you are agreeing to complete the following documents for the European Commission in order to receive your grant:
    • Grant agreement;
    • Learning agreement;
    • Final report;
    • Online language learning (dependant on the language you will be taught in).
  • Failure to complete these documents may result in your grant not being paid or having to be re-paid to the European Commission.

All of our funding for 2016/17 has been allocate to confirmed exchanges. As a result of this unfortunately PhD students cannot benefit from a subsistence grant however, will still be eligible for the tuition fee waiver. 

Can LSE support my work placement under Erasmus?

LSE does not currently support work placements in the EU under the Erasmus+ programme.
