Undergraduate Open Day

Hosted by the Student Marketing and Recruitment team

LSE Campus, London, United Kingdom

An open day is a fantastic opportunity to hear from LSE students and academics, explore the campus and gain an insight into what it's like to be an LSE student.

The Open Day has been designed to ensure that you can obtain all the information you need to make a well-informed choice about university. You will have the opportunity to:

  • attend subject talks to find out more about our degree programmes
  • meet current LSE students
  • see some of our student accommodation
  • speak to staff from departments such as Financial Support and Undergraduate Admissions on a one-to-one basis at our Information Stands

It is essential that visitors book a place at the Open Day in advance. You are welcome to come by yourself or bring one guest. If you'd like to bring a guest with you, please indicate this when you book your place. Space restrictions on campus mean we cannot accommodate more than one guest per student. Please refer to the information in 'how can I attend' to make your booking.

Planning your day

Please refer to our full programme of events [PDF] for an overview of the activities taking place at the Open Day. The full programme of events will be available a couple of weeks before the event and paper copies will be distributed on the day.

You do not need to make separate bookings to attend subject talks (except Economics), but we recommend arriving in good time as the most popular ones do fill up quickly. Please note due to space restrictions on campus, we can only admit prospective students to subject talks. Parents and other guests will be unable to attend.

If you need help deciding where to go or require directions on the day, please ask one of our Student Ambassadors, who will be wearing black or white LSE t-shirts. The Ambassadors are current LSE students so feel free to ask them about their experiences of life at LSE!

We’ve prepared a short video to welcome you to the School, which we recommend you watch before the Open Day to ensure you get the most out of your visit.

Arrival and registration

All visitors are required to check in at the Open Day registration desk before attending any other activities.

Within 24 hours of booking a place at the Open Day you will receive a confirmation email detailing the location of the registration desk. The email will also contain an event barcode.

If you do not receive a confirmation email please check your junk or spam folders. Please contact if you require assistance with this.

When you arrive at the registration desk you will need to present the barcode at the top of your confirmation email ready for scanning. We can scan your barcode from a phone or tablet – there is no need to print the email.

At registration you and your guest will receive an LSE wristband, which will act as your visitor passes for the day.

Once you have registered, you are free to attend any of the events taking place during the day. Aside from the Economics talk, you do not need to book any other activities in advance.

Travel and accommodation

We recommend you book your Open Day place and refer to the provisional programme of events [PDF] before you arrange travel or accommodation.

Use our maps of LSE and directions to the campus to find your way to us. We strongly recommend you use public transport as car parking in the area is extremely limited.

The TfL Journey Planner can help you find your way across London by tube, bus and train.

If you’re planning to stay overnight in London, why not enjoy a taste of university life by staying in an LSE hall of residence? Staying in LSE halls is cost effective, and prospective students receive a 20 per cent discount on the standard room rates.

Please avoid bringing luggage to the Open Day as we have no facilities to store this during the event.

Group bookings

If you are a teacher and would like to make a group booking for your students (10 or more), please email

Other opportunities to visit LSE

If you are unable to attend the Open Day, there are other opportunities to visit LSE, or there are ways to experience LSE from home, including webinars and videos.

The next Open Day, for those going to university in September 2019, will be held in July 2018.

LSE runs a series of public lectures throughout the year which are free to attend and open to all. Public lectures running the week of the open day include The Great Economists: how their ideas can help us today, Fair Shot: rethinking inequality and how we earn, and Ten Reasons We're Wrong About The World – And Why Things Are Better Than You Think. Visit LSE Events for more information about public lectures.

How can I attend? Add to calendar
