Balcony repairs will be carried out during 2016/17 in Court 4 and Court 2 at Butler's Wharf Residence. This work could potentially be quite noisy and the affected area of the building will be covered with scaffolding. No works are scheduled to take place over the summer (June-September 2017).
Balcony repairs will be carried out during 2017/18 in Court 1 and Court 3 at Butler’s Wharf Residence. This work could potentially be quite noisy and the affected area of the building will be covered with scaffolding. We will try to avoid works taking place during the exam period 2018, and no works will take place between June and September 2018. Previous balcony works were carried out with minimal disruption to our residents, and we’re hoping for these works to go just as smoothly.
The first floor at Carr-Saunders Residence will be completely refurbished from the middle of August 2017 through to January 2018. There is likely to be noise disruption from the work between 9:30am and 5pm Monday to Friday throughout the first academic term. This will be on an intermittent basis, but can be heard throughout the building. Weekend work will be required on Saturday between 10:30am – 2:30pm. We will endeavour to keep our residents informed throughout, to ensure their safety.
Currently no scheduled works at Grosvenor House.
The third and fourth floors at High Holborn Residence will be completely refurbished from the middle of August 2017 through to April 2018.
There is likely to be noise disruption from the work between 9:30am and 5pm Monday to Friday throughout the first and second academic terms. Occasional weekend work might be required to keep on top of the project finish date.
Noise will occur on an intermittent basis, but can be heard throughout the building. High Holborn has a common room/ study area that can be used during these times.
Light refurbishment will be carried out from the middle of August 2017 to April 2018 throughout the mezzanine to second floor including showers, WC’s and kitchens.
High Holborn Residence - local area planned works
Travelodge10 Drury Ln, High Holborn, London, WC2B 5RE
Barnes Construction are the appointed contractor for infilling the vacant colonnade at the junction of Drury Lane and High Holborn to form a new catering A3 retail unit and additional bedrooms to this hotel. This aspect of the Travelodge is our neighbouring property. Works involve the erection of scaffolding to both elevations, and will take place Monday to Friday 8am to 5:30pm and Saturday from 8am to 1pm in accordance with Camden local planning regulations.
The Post Building 21- 31 New Oxford Street, London, WC1A 1AP
Laing O'Rourke are the project managers for the demolition and rebuild of The Post Building, which has remained derelict for over 20 years. Works are scheduled to continue until 2018. Noise is permitted Monday to Friday 8am to 5:30pm and Saturday from 8am to 1pm. All this work has received Camden planning consent. For more details of the scope of works, see:
There are major building works on a nearby site (located on Crispin Street, Brushfield Street, Commercial Street and White’s Row) which will be ongoing until late 2018. Rooms located in the part of Lilian Knowles Hall that overlook this site will be impacted by significant noise while this work is underway. Work is scheduled to take place only within the hours of 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.
Kitchen and bedroom furniture in Block A will be removed and replaced between 18 June and 31 August 2018. During this period, contractors will be working between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday and occasionally on weekends.They'll try to keep disruption to a minimum, but higher levels of noise are expected especially during the removal of old fittings and the delivery/installation of new ones.
Currently no scheduled works at Northumberland House.
From August 2017 until the end of Michaelmas term, the bathrooms on the 1st and 2nd floors of the main building will be refurbished. During this programme of essential works, alternative showers and toilets will be available on other floors.
During 2016-17, the bathrooms in the Myddelton Wing are being converted to showers. There are many other conveniently located showers and toilets that can be used whilst the works are being completed.
Starting in June 2017 and continuing for part of the summer, some of the male and female showers and toilets in the Rosebery Wing will be refurbished. During this programme of essential works, alternative showers and toilets will be available on other floors. We will try to to keep disruption to a minimum.
There are currently no scheduled building works at Sidney Webb House for the academic year 2017/18.
Currently no scheduled works at urbanest King's Cross.
The King’s Cross area continues to be developed however, the facilities and services at urbanest King's Cross will not be affected during this time.
