Abstract

To make statistical methodology available to end-users, especially to those in other disciplines, we need software to implement the method.
That software should ideally be readily available, easy to use, flexible and work correctly.
The talk will discuss the process of moving new statistical methodology from ideas to practical implementation(s), in the context of the development of 'R', a piece of free (in several senses) software designed to make it easy to provide reference implementations.
