Professor Bartholomew was awarded his PhD at University College London. He began his long and distinguished career as scientist for the National Coal Board, before joining Keele University in 1957 and the University College of Wales in 1960, before taking up a Chair is Statistics at the University of Kent in 1967. He joined LSE in 1973 and remained with us until his retirement in 1996. He was a Pro-Director between 1988 and 1991.

He was President of the Royal Statistical Society between 1993 and 1995 and is a Fellow of the British Academy.

This conference acknowledges the significant contributions Professor Bartholomew made in the areas of mathematical statistics, stochastic models, latent variable models and social statistics.

Venue: Hong Kong Theatre (Clement House), London School of Economics. Maps of the School and Buildings can be found using the link at the side of the page.

A buffet reception will be held in the evening of Day 1 in the LSE Senior Common Room, 5th Floor, Old Building, starting at 7.30pm. This is open to all registered participants. Tea and coffee are provided on both days and a sandwich lunch is provided on Day 2
