LSE and Pakistan

Faisal Mosque with the hills of Margalla in background

LSE’s connections with Pakistan go back more than a century when its Founders – Sidney and Beatrice Webb – visited Lyallpur, Peshawar and Lahore in 1911-12. Throughout this period  LSE has welcomed some of its best students from Pakistan, and every year applications and admissions continue to rise. In 2015-16, we have 127 Pakistani students – 79 undergraduates and 48 postgraduates. Click here for student and career statistics.

Prominent alumni include Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiyar, Ahmad Kamal, Khan Abdul Qayyum Khan, Makhdoom Ali Khan, Maleeha Lodhi, Marvi Memon, Arif Naqvi, and Justice Dorab Patel amongst several others.

We have a total of 872 active alumni on our database (with more than 150 in London alone), one of the highest in the world.

Recent visitors (2015-16):

• Hon. Chairman Senate Mr Raza Rabbani

• High Commissioner of Pakistan to the UK, H.E. S Ibne Abbas.
