Tina Basi is a sociologist who first joined LSE as the School’s Knowledge Exchange Manager. She spent the time between receiving her PhD and her return to academia as a corporate ethnographer working largely for Intel Corporation and on smaller ethnographic research projects for the Department of Health, Ministry of Justice, Westminster Council, and the Design Council. Her return to academic life coincided with the ‘impact agenda’ and Tina oversees the School’s allocation of the Higher Education Innovation Fund and also works across the REF Impact Case Studies. Her doctoral research has been published by Routledge, titled Women, Identity, and India’s Call Centre Industry and was nominated for the Phillip Abrahams Memorial Prize by the British Sociological Association
Her research interests include identity, postcolonialism, feminist theory, feminist cultural studies, qualitative research methodologies, and material culture. She has previously guest lectured at the Royal College of Art.
She has a PhD from the University of Leeds in Sociology and Gender Studies, funded by an ESRC studentship, where she also obtained an MA in Gender Studies. Her Bachelor of Arts Honours degree is from the University of Regina in Canada where she undertook a double major in Postcolonial Literature, and Women’s Studies, and a minor in Film Theory.
