Edmund Ramsden is a research fellow at the Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of Manchester. He is currently engaged in a Wellcome Trust funded project which explores the history of the dog as an experimental animal in science and medicine.

Seminar details: This paper examined the emergence of experimental psychiatry in the United States in the mid-20th century, establishing the central role of the animal laboratory in the study and control of human psychopathology.
