My doctoral thesis, "Towards a cultural psychology of creativity: The case of Easter-egg painting in urban and rural Romania", proposes an original understanding of creativity from a cultural-psychological perspective

I started my PhD studies at the Institute of Social Psychology, London School of Economics, in 2008. Previous to this I received an MSc in Social and Cultural Psychology from the LSE, and was awarded the Himmelweit Prize for best overall performance. I also hold a BA in psychology obtained in my home country from the University of Bucharest, Romania.

Alongside my studies I am Editor of an electronic quarterly peer reviewed psychology journal, Europe's Journal of Psychology (, founded by a group of students in February 2005. I have been part of this project from its very inception, as I believe in the importance of facilitating open access to high quality psychological information and of creating a space for exchange between students and scholars in all areas of psychology.

Outside of the academia I have worked as a research analyst for a marketing company specialised in consumers' psychology and qualitative research. In the years before coming to London I also volunteered for several NGOs such as Save the Children - Bucharest branch and the International Federation of Educative Communities (FICE), the Romanian division.
