Under-enumeration in the 2001 census, and the future of censuses
This paper will first look at the future need for population research in the UK and the contribution that the ESRC can play. One particular need is for accurate population data and the paper will then address the question of what is the population of the UK, looking at an assessment of the results of the 2001 census and asking what they tell us about the population and about resource allocation.
