I am Professorial Research Fellow at the London School of Economics, Director of the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research, and Professor of Social Statistics at the University of Helsinki. My training is in Demography (PhD, University of Pennsylvania, 2009) and Statistics (PhD, University of Helsinki, 2007).
Most of my work is on population health, analysis of contemporary fertility trends, and demographic forecasting. At the London School of Economics I lead a project that focuses on analysing how postponement of parenthood to advanced ages influences the health and cognitive ability of the children and the well-being of the parents. This research project is funded by a European Research Council Starting Grant, and is part of the ALPHA research network.
