Availability
This is an optional course of LLB and BA Anthropology and Law. It is also available as an outside option. Not available to General Course students.
Pre-requisites
Completion of LL104 Law of Obligations is normally a prerequisite.
Course content
A study of the law governing commercial contracts in their business context. This study divides into two parts. The first part examines several important aspects of, or themes in, the law's regulation of commercial contracting - in particular, the formation of commercial contracts and their interpretation; pre-contractual duties; long-term contracts and business relationships; multi-party projects; agreed remedies and ADR. The second part examines core topics in commercial law: sale of goods; money, payment and payment methods; credit, security and reservation of title; agency; assignment.
Teaching
There will be one two-hour lecture each week. Additional small classes meet four times each term.
Formative coursework
Written work will be required each term.
