Ruben's PhD research at LSE investigated the phenomenon of irregular migration from West Africa towards southern Europe, in particular Spain. His current research project, 'The risk crucible: managing multiple insecurities in the western Sahel', is concerned with humanitarian intervention in post-conflict Mali and beyond.
