I describe myself as a social economist. I carry out research on the economic implications of societal ageing. I have,i the past been a senior economist at the OECD and have carried out much consultancy work for the European Commission. My work had been policy-oriented and has had a comparative component. In the past, I have also taught applied statistics and maths for economists. Currently, I am principal investigator of a €1.9m Horizon 2020 project - SPRINT - looking at the contribution of social investment to the provision of long-term care and involving partners across 11 EU countries - see www.sprint-project.eu.
