Professor William Callahan from LSE International Relations received a delegation of the PRC’s foremost Taiwan Studies scholars, ahead of the first World Congress of Taiwan Studies to be held outside of Taiwan (in London).
The delegation participated in a panel discussion which also included Dr Fang-long Shih from the LSE Taiwan Research Programme. The panel discussed three subjects: (1) Mainland China’s Taiwan policy and Cross-Taiwan Strait relations; (2) Taiwan’s domestic political development; and (3) The US’s Asia-Pacific policy and its geopolitical implications for East Asia’s security situation.
The panel was followed by a lunch where further ideas were exchanged with Dr Shih, with a view to further collaboration.
