Research summary > [Click to expand]

My current research is on vernacular rights cultures. The work on vernacular rights cultures is a philosophical, conceptual, political and a sociological exploration of contemporary rights activism in ‘most of the world’.

Its aim is to orient a shift in the current cosmopolitical discourse on human rights which it finds firmly anchored- theoretically and empirically- to the global north and to put forward a conceptual framework that seeks to not only disrupt the originary and even orientalist arguments that inform this discourse but also to conceptually capture the dynamic politics of rights outside the west.

Countries and regions to which research relates:

South Asia, India in particular
