Sara Hagemann's research focuses on transparency and accountability in political systems, in particular with regards to the European Union and its member states. Her current projects engage with issues of government responsiveness in the EU, and the effects of various kinds of transparency and accountability measures on legislative politics and the dynamics between parliaments and governments. She also investigates accountability and questions of legitimacy in policy-making in international organisations more broadly. She has published in top peer-reviewed political science journals, and frequently appears in public debates and the media.
