Sumantra Bose is a scholar of comparative politics and international relations. His work includes several acclaimed books--Contested Lands: Israel-Palestine, Kashmir, Bosnia, Cyprus, Sri Lanka (Harvard University Press, 2007), Kashmir: Roots of Conflict, Paths to Peace (Harvard University Press, 2003), and Bosnia after Dayton: Nationalist Partition and International Intervention (Oxford University Press, 2002). Contested Lands was also published in Arabic translation in 2008, and in an edition for the Indian subcontinent by HarperCollins India, Delhi. Contested Lands and Kashmir are available worldwide in paperback and digital forms, and Bosnia after Dayton in hardback and paperback.

Professor Bose's new book, Transforming India: Challenges to the World's Largest Democracy, will be published globally by Harvard University Press in 2013 (in the Indian subcontinent by Picador India, Delhi). Transforming India will appear in print and digital forms.

Sumantra Bose graduated in 1992 with highest honours from Amherst College, Massachusetts, USA and received MA, MPhil and PhD (1998) degrees in political science from Columbia University, New York, USA. He is a citizen of India, where he spends a considerable proportion of his time. He contributes regularly on his topics and areas of expertise to many international media including the BBC and Al-Jazeera.
