Robin Burgess' areas of research interest include development economics, public economics, political economy and labour economics. His research focuses on identifying policy and institutional reforms which are capable of delivering higher growth and lower poverty in developing countries. He sits on the Executive Committee of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), is a faculty research fellow at the National Bureau for Economic Research (NBER), a fellow of the Bureau for Research in the Economic Analysis of Development (BREAD) and of the European Development Research Development Network (EUDN). He is also a member of the Institute for Policy Dialogue (IPR). He has consulted extensively for the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the Indian Government.
