Matteo's main expertise is the design of lab and field experiments and the econometric analysis of experimental data. He has conducted several behavioural experiments in the area of health and social policy, including studies on risk and time preferences and health behaviour, scope and unintended consequences of financial incentives, links between lab and field behaviour, and mindset spillover effects. He is currently PI on a project to link experimental and survey data using the Understanding Society panel at ISER, Essex.
