I situate my research at the intersection of contemporary political theory and modern Chinese thought, emphasizing the theoretical and not simply historical value of Chinese discourses on politics. I specialize in Contemporary political theory, particularly democratic, postcolonial, and cultural theory; Chinese thought in general, with a specific focus on late nineteenth and early twentieth century political thought; and issues related to cross-cultural methodology and understanding.
