Katie's research pertains to the 'practice-based turn' in management studies. She has focused on issues relating to work and society in Higher Education, the cultural sector and technology-rich environments. She uses ethnographic and workplace studies to explore the real world of work and most recently has explored the changing work practices brought about by the growth of private HE providers.

Katie has provided consultancy to a blue-chip pharmaceutical firm on their communication strategies and to the V&A Museum, where she reinvigorated their visitor engagement strategy. She has also designed and developed bespoke executive education, degree programmes and training courses for a number of organisations including Simmons and Simmons LLP, T-Systems and a number of other City law and finance firms.

Short bio >

Katie gained her MRes and PhD at King’s College London with ESRC sponsorship. Before joining LSE, Katie was Director of MBA Programmes at BPP Business School.

Katie is Chair of Industry Engagement in the Practice Theme Committee at Academy of Management, an external examiner for University of East London and has been a guest lecturer at Cass Business School, Hanken School of Economics and Lancaster School of Management.
