Research summary > [Click to expand]

Daniel holds a PhD in Anthropology from Durham University. His on-going research in central Greece concerns economic relations in diverse socio-historical contexts, understanding the impact of the current economic crisis through concepts of polytemporality. He has also published on how the crisis has created dynamic spaces for entrepreneurial opportunism and diversification.

Daniel is currently working on his project “Under the Wings of Daedalus: photovoltaic energy transition and economic sustainability in Greece”. As Greece enters a fourth year of economic turmoil and fiscal austerity, renewable energy is viewed as a long-term solution to both socioeconomic and energy problems. The project focuses on the possibility that photovoltaic energy can facilitate long-term sustainable socioeconomic development and investigates how the dissemination of macro-scale policy through systems of governance influences everyday social practice.
