My research interests are wide-ranging. I have published on the politics of the European Union, financial regulation and the US public debt. There is, however, one guiding principle that binds these diverse interests together. In all of these projects I have developed a heterodox political economy approach to explore the contemporary nature of social power in advanced capitalist countries. The study of social power, I argue, requires theoretical and empirical research that cuts across disciplinary boundaries and that is attentive to the interaction of national, regional and global processes.
