Inspired by Helen Benedict’s novel and play The Lonely Soldier about women soldiers serving in Iraq, the panel debates various gendered dimensions of contemporary conflicts.

Helen Benedict is an American novelist and journalist, best known for her writings on social injustice and the Iraq War.

Katherine Brown is a Lecturer in Defence Studies, at King's College London.

Marsha Henry is an Associate Professor in Gender, Development and Globalisation, at the LSE.

Dr Denisa Kostovicova is an Associate Professor in Global Politics at the LSE.
