Buying Time: the delayed crisis of democratic capitalism

The financial and economic crisis that began in 2008 still has the world on tenterhooks. The gravity of the situation is matched by a general paucity of understanding about what is happening and how it started.

Wolfgang Streeck is the Director of the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Society at Cologne and author of Buying Time: The Delayed Crisis of Democratic Capitalism. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics and a member of the Berlin Brandenburg Academy of Sciences as well as the Academia Europaea.

Colin Crouch is one of the world's leading political economists, a Member of the Max-Planck Society and the head of Social Sciences at the British Academy.

David Soskice is School Professor of Political Science and Economics at the LSE.
