Middle East Centre lecture

Date: Wednesday 1 June 2011
Time: 6-7.30pm
Venue:  Thai Theatre, New Academic Building
Speaker: Dr Tilde Rosmer

This lecture examines the role of Palestinians citizens of Israel in Israeli politics and their place in a conflict in which they are often caught between the state of their citizenship and the nationality of their people. In addition to looking at tensions between these non-Jewish citizens and the Jewish state and Jewish Israelis, the lecture will examine tensions within this group of Palestinians.

She is currently researching the Islamic Movement in Israel and her PhD dissertation Mizrahiut and the Arab-Jewish Divide: Contemporary Challenges to Israel's Ethnic Boundaries analyses social movements dominated by Jews of Middle Eastern and North African origin and Palestinian citizens of Israel.
