Just as importantly, what stopped the Tories getting their act together until David Cameron came along? The answers, Tim Bale shows, are as provocative as the questions.
Tim Bale is senior lecturer in politics at the University of Sussex. This lecture launches his latest book The Conservative Party: From Thatcher to Cameron.
