An economist by training and the current leader of opposition's Socialist Movement for Integration party and a current member of Albanian Parliament, in 1999 Ilir Meta became the youngest Prime Minister in Europe at the age of only 30 years old. During his political life he has served also as Deputy Prime Minister and as Foreign Minister of his country.
