This lecture critically addresses Hannah Arendt's hypothesis on the banality of evil arguing that those who commit extreme acts are not aware of the consequences of their actions: rather, they celebrate these consequences as moral.
Steve Reicher is professor of social psychology at the University of St Andrew's, Scotland.
