EVENT CANCELLED: Towards the French Presidency of the EU: which priorities?

The French Presidency of 2008 will be an opportunity for adopting a more forward-looking approach, e.g. in tackling climate change, promoting a greener Europe, securing energy supply, and adopting an integrated approach of migration and demographic change. France will also give a new impetus to the fight against terrorism and criminal organisations. The French Presidency will strive to develop a new agenda with emerging countries and play an active role in defence policy, so that Europe is recognised as a model player in the international stage.

Jean Pierre Jouyet is French Minister of Foreign and European Affairs.
