Lakatos Award lecture

Date: Wednesday 18 April 2007
Time: 6.30-7.30pm
Venue: Hong Kong Theatre, Clement House
Speaker: Professor Harvey Brown
Chair: Professor Nancy Cartwright

Professor Brown will reappraise the reality and origins of the relativistic phenomena of length contraction and time, arguing that the reason why rods and clocks 'measure' the geometry of space-time is often misunderstood.

Harvey Brown is professor of philosophy and physics at Oxford University. His book, Physical Relativity: space-time structure from a dynamical perspective, was one of two publications given the 2006 Lakatos Award.

This event is free and open to all with no ticket required. Entry is on a first come, first served basis.
