Ali Babacan is the Turkish Minister of State in charge of Economy and he was appointed Turkey's chief negotiator in accession talks with the European Union in May 2005. In 1994, he acted as the Chief Advisor to the Mayor of Ankara. He secured continuous financing for the important projects of the city during the economic crisis of Turkey in 1994. In 2001, he became a Founding Member and Board Member of the Justice and Development Party.
This event is part of 'The Future of Europe Series', hosted jointly by FT Business| and the European Institute|.
