There has been much debate over the application of human rights law during times of armed conflict. This discussion between two leading experts in the field explores the boundaries of the relationship between human rights and international humanitarian law and how these two bodies of law can coexist.

Françoise Hampson is a professor of law at the University of Essex and specialises in international humanitarian law and human rights. William Schabas is director of the Irish Centre for Human Rights at the National University of Ireland, Galway, and professor of human rights law.
