LSE Public Lecture

Date: Wednesday 26 July 2006
Time: 6.30pm
Venue
: Hong Kong Theatre, Clement House
Speaker: Sir Michael Jay
Chair: Zeinab Badawi

Sir Michael Jay will ask what the role of foreign policy is in a world where foreign and domestic policy are increasingly intertwined; a world dominated by instant messaging and 24-hour news coverage. What foreign policy do we need if we are to tackle the complex and urgent challenges of an ever more globalised world?

Sir Michael Jay will retire at the end of July after more than four years as Foreign and Commonwealth Office Permanent Under-Secretary and Head of the Diplomatic Service. He has had a varied civil service career including postings to Paris, New Delhi and Washington. The Prime Minister also nominated Sir Michael as his personal representative to the Gleneagles and St Petersburg G8 Summits.

This event is free and open to all with no ticket required. Entry is on a first come, first served basis.
