Alfonso Prat Gay was appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Argentina in 2002. As a professor, he taught at the Argentine Catholic and the Torcuato Di Tella Universities. He was a private consultant and editor of specialized publications in political and economic analysis. He also worked at JPMorgan for seven and a half years and was elected the "Best economist in Wall Street for Argentina" by Institutional Investor and Latin Finance, as well as the "Best economist for Chile" by Latin Finance. Prior to joining JPMorgan, he was the macroeconomics director of a leading consulting firm in Buenos Aires.
