A public debate between two advocates of British entry (Layard and Turner) and two opponents (Bootle and Minford). The debate will be followed by a questions and answer session from the floor.
Roger Bootle is managing director of Capital Economics, an economic advisor to Deloitte & Touche and a specialist advisor to the House of Commons Treasury Committee. Richard Layard is co-director of the Centre for Economic Performance at LSE and chairman of the Economic Council of Britain in Europe. Patrick Minford is a professor of economics at Cardiff University. He was one of HM Treasury's Panel of Forecasters from 1993 to 1996. Adair Turner is senior advisor and vice-chairman of Merrill Lynch Holdings Ltd, a director of United Business Media plc, and chair of the Low Pay Commission. He is also a visiting professor at LSE.
This lecture is free and open to all with no ticket required. Entry is on a first come, first serve basis.
