Events Jeffrey A. Barrett (University of California at Irvine) will give a Sigma Club talk on 'How to Understand Everett's Pure Wave Mechanics as Empirically Adequate' on Monday 13 February, 5-7pm, LAK.2.06.
Roger Brownsword (King's College London), Neil Levy (Oxford Centre for Neuroethics) and Sir Michael Rutter (King's College London) will discuss 'Neuroscience, Responsibility and the Law' at the Forum for European Philosophy on Tuesday, 14 February, 6:30-8pm, Wolfson Theatre, NAB. The Centre's Order Project presents H. Peyton Young (Dept of Economics, Oxford) speaking on 'The Dynamics of Social Innovation' on Wednesday 15 February, 5:30pm, LAK.2.06. This event is part of the Moral and Social Order lecture series.
The Choice Group will host a book launch event of 'Empirical Social Choice' (2012) featuring co-authors Wulf Gaertner (Osnabrück and LSE) and Erik Schokkaert (Leuven) on Wednesday 22 February at 5:30pm in LAK.2.06
Evelyn Fox Keller (MIT) will be giving a Friends of the Centre public lecture titled 'What is a Rational Response to Catastrophic Risk?' on Thursday 8 March, 6.30-8pm, Old Theatre, Old Building.
Abdulkarim Soroush will give the 2012 Popper Memorial Lecture on 'Critical Rationalism and Religious and Political Reform in Iran', Thursday 15 March, 6-7:30pm, Sheikh Zayed Theatre, NAB.
The Department, the Centre and the Forum are also contributing events to the upcoming LSE Literary Festival, which takes place from Wednesday 29 February to Saturday 3 March. This year's festival runs under the title 'Relating Cultures'. For details on these events see here, here & here.
News Alex Voorhoeve has accepted a Laurence Rockefeller Fellowship for 2012-2013 at the University Center for Human Values at Princeton University.
Luc Bovens gave a public lecture entitled 'Responsibilities' in the 'Studium Generale -- Rights to a Green Future' at the University of Utrecht, Netherlands.
Susanne Burri was awarded the Popper Prize this year for her paper 'The Fair Distribution of Bad Luck'.
Zhixiong Brian Sng was awarded the Imre Lakatos Prize for his outstanding dissertation.
