"Post-war" in many societies is a time of flux when new, more just gender relationships can be forged. But a post-war era, if left unattended, is even more likely to be a time when masculinized structures and cultures can become re-established.
Cynthia Enloe is research professor of international developmentm and of women’s studies at Clark University, Massachusetts.
