This lecture will re-examine the origins of international history in Britain after the First World War and re-assess, in the light of the continuing debate about the origins of that war, how far the aspirations of the discipline’s founders remain applicable today. David Stevenson is Stevenson Professor of International History at LSE. His publications include With Our Backs to the Wall: victory and defeat in 1918.
