October 2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the Cuban missile crisis. This panel will re-evaluate the impact of the crisis on relations both within the Americas and between the superpowers.

Antoni Kapcia is professor in Latin American history, University of Nottingham.

Hal Klepak is professor of history and warfare studies at the Royal Military College of Canada.

Carlos Alzugaray Treto is professor at the Center for Hemispheric and United States Studies, University of Havana. From 1961-96 he was a foreign service officer, being posted at Cuban diplomatic and consular missions.
