Editor's note: We apologise for the poor audio quality of this recording.

Speaker(s): Professor Anatol Lieven
Chair: Dr Cheryl Schonhardt-Bailey

Recorded on 1 October 2012 in Old Theatre, Old Building.

This lecture will describe how the economic decline of the American white middle classes (which in US terms includes parts of what in Europe are called the working classes) is producing a form of radical conservatism which while it has specifically American features, also has sinister echoes of the European past.

This event marks the publication of a new edition of America Right or Wrong - An Anatomy of American Nationalism.

Anatol Lieven is a professor in the War Studies Department at King's College London, and a senior fellow of the New America Foundation in Washington DC.
