Towards a new response to climate change - perspectives from Australia

Download: Audio, Transcript

Speaker(s): Penny Wong
Chair: Professor Eric Neumayer

Recorded on 15 October 2008 in Old Theatre, Old Building.

With its ratification of the Kyoto Protocol in December 2007 and commitment to introduce an emissions trading scheme - the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme - in 2010, the Australian Government has taken the opportunity to approach climate change policy from a fresh perspective. Senator Wong will outline the Government's global and domestic policy approach, with particular emphasis on the key role of market-based mechanisms.
