National Student Survey 2015

Houghton Street

Responding to the results of the 2015 National Student Survey (NSS), Professor Paul Kelly, LSE Pro-Director for Teaching and Learning said:

Professor Paul Kelly“The teaching and learning experience of our students is a top priority for LSE, so it is gratifying to see such high levels of satisfaction for our departments of Social Policy, Economic History and Anthropology, who all scored over 95% in the 2015 NSS.

Nonetheless, this year’s overall results for the School are inescapably disappointing and unacceptable.

In light of recent surveys, and as a response to internal student feedback, the School is already undertaking a range of changes to improve the student experience.

From autumn 2015 a new academic year structure will be introduced, with an extension of teaching-focused terms. This will enable departments to provide additional support for study skills and offer more innovative forms of teaching.

The School is creating more learning facilities, including teaching rooms, computer rooms and study spaces.

In addition, each department must now develop a tailored strategy, using the NSS results, to ensure they are effectively responding to the needs of their students.

We believe these new measures, coupled with a galvanized commitment to teaching quality, will lead to an improved overall experience for students and greater student satisfaction in the years to come.”
